How to Escape the Corona Blues

The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.” – William James

In today’s world of uncertainty, it’s perfectly natural to feel stressed and anxious about tomorrow!

Learning to be “Agile” in the workplace refers to our ability to respond to change rapidly, and Laughter Yoga fully endorses this concept through meditation, mindfulness and by encouraging spontaneity in a playful and relaxing way. It’s a fun and relaxing way to escape the Corona Blues.

Want to hear a little secret? All practices of yoga and mindfulness have the same objective; to cultivate joy and a sense of calm in a chaotic world (Laughter Yoga is no different).

By harnessing joy in your laughter yoga practice, it becomes a state of being, and facilitates a way to push beyond merely “responding to change.” It can help you start to accept events that you cannot change (and saves you the pain and anguish of resisting the things that are out of your control).

Therefore, you’re encouraged to leave your worries behind and connect (or reconnect) with your most creative and authentic self. Not only will you improve your health and well-being, but you have permission to be your true self in a safe, relaxed and non-judgmental environment.

You only need to bring your natural spirit of adventure and a sense of willingness. Come mentally prepared for some meditation, fun, childlike playfulness, and some gentle laughter exercises.

Get ready for some science…

The practice of slowing down your breathe and introducing laughter exercises, allows you to connect with your breathe consciously. This is vital to produce measurable physiological changes within your body, such as raising oxygen levels in the blood, stimulating muscle relaxation and blood circulation, and triggering the release of endorphins (the bodies natural built-in mechanism for stress and pain relief). Laughter Yoga is an alternative wellness method that puts energy into motion to create and sustain positive energy and serves as a complete package for physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

What are the benefits?

By practising meditation, mindfulness and yoga; we foster the ability to pay attention to the present moment. Given time, this leads to a better insight into your thoughts and feelings without being overwhelmed by them. When we’re living in the present moment, we give ourselves the space to be spontaneous and creative because we are no longer attached to the past or future. Laughter is the fastest way to release pent-up emotions, especially those associated with stress.

Emotions are destined to be expressed; after all, they are called e-motions for good reason! Laughter is a safe and non-threatening way to express blocked emotions/events, and this can be a cathartic experience. By learning to laugh at your problems, it helps shift your perspective and allows you to relieve the stress and anxiety associated with them.
