Lost your confidence with working from home for too long? Do you find yourself struggling to feel beautiful? Me too, dear friends, me too!
Before Corona, I was cheerful, confident, energetic and teaching Laughter Yoga. Hoho haha! Ironically, I was even a guest speaker for a World Summit on World Laughter Day, 2020—I facilitated a workshop was called “How to cultivate your inner (glow)stick”.
Needless to say, I lost my glow for a while.
On top of the Corona Blues, I lost my department at work, my lovely team, and I had to learn a new job on the fly. All was going well until a round of redundancies were announced! Consequently, 23 colleagues lost their jobs (many were close friends), and if all this wasn’t bad enough, things started to unravel in my personal life.
I wish I could say that the latter has stabilized, but, there’s still a long way to go…
Luckily, I have a handy toolbox to elevate my mood—it takes a bit of practice and repetition (when I would really prefer to just bingewatch Netflix and eat chocolate ice cream from the tub), but it’s totally worth it.
Anyway, we’re not here to talk about my so called life!
We’re here to talk about YOU.
Have you ever looked in the mirror and not been able to recognise the face staring back at you? Are you struggling to feel beautiful? Have you ever asked yourself “who am I?”
It’s okay to feel this way. You’re not alone.
Corona has left a path of destruction in its wake—not only as a widespread health pandemic but also a global mental-health crisis. So if you’re feeling frazzled, bewildered, in mourning (I’m so sorry for your loss if that’s the case), isolated from your friends and family, sad or just plain sick and tired of feeling sit and tired, it’s okay.
Give yourself permission to feel that way. Give yourself permission to grieve, cry, rant and shout. Get the emotions out of your system in a way that resonates with you—don’t stay trapped in the tyranny of the Corona Blues.
The human condition is a fragile thing and we all need community to thrive and feel loved, so it’s perfectly natural to not feel your best during this unprecedented time when we’re all separated.
But, imagine what it would be like to feel like to have control over your happiness again. To have control over your emotions, confidence, frequency and confidence levels.
How would you feel if I told you that you can elevate your mood in four easy steps?
Step One: close your eyes and focus on your breath for one minute. As you focus on your breath, say to yourself: breathe in life, breathe out love. Breathe in life, breathe out joy.
Step Two: repeat the the following affirmation for one minute: I am safe, I am well, I am loved, I am beautiful.
Top tip: if you’re new to affirmations, it’s important to realise the power of “I AM.” Make what follows “I am” to be congruent with your highest self (call it God, the universe or your highest frequency).

Step three: find a mirror and give yourself a thumbs up! Be sure to smile or laugh at yourself. Have fun with your inner child and smile. You can also give yourself a hug — it may feel silly at first, but it’s important to show yourself self-love.
Step four: for the ultimate pick-me-up boost — find yourself a power pose!
Imagine you’re a superhero with special powers. Stand up tall, head up, shoulders back, and stay in this position for at least one minute (longer if you have the time—this can really alter your physiology—and I have it on very good authority from Harvard University, LOL!).
Then use and replicate these four easy steps whenever you feel the need to change your mood instantly. Try it every day for one week and notice the difference.
What’s more, you can complete this practice in as little as five minutes. Now, who doesn’t have five minutes to spare to feel more powerful, beautiful and confident?
